The power of crowds
Thanks to Gray Mirror readers for demonstrating the power of democracy by funding TENSE Magazine!
But while it’s great to help Beckett out more, we still have a ways to go on the Untitled Delicious Tacos Short Film—six days and fifteen thousand dollars, to be exact. [UPDATE: four days, seven thousand dollars! Come on, ye Cossacks of the cloud! Democratic centralism for the win… smash that button, and make the UDTSF.]
Let me be very direct and explain why this is such a worthy and important project. In fact, UDTSF is nothing less than a kind of supergroup counterculture event.
Every new culture needs fiction. Tacos is the Hemingway, the Raymond Carver, of our scene. It needs film. Peter Vack is a badass veteran of the NY underground film scene and famous for the infamous Mike Crumplar struggle session. It needs provocative underground magazines—Asher Penn is well-known for his SEX Magazine. It needs dangerous music—I can’t even mention the former name of musician Negative XP.
You may ask: what Delicious Tacos story? Come on. If you’re a DT fan, you know what one it has to be. The worst one. The most unacceptable one. The one we can’t say. Yeah. It’s that one. I’ve read the script, too…
Also, you should smash that button and preorder Unqualified Reservations Vol. 1. This is not just a bunch of old blogposts someone reformatted as a book—well, it is—but real love and care have gone into the publishing process.
And before subscribers note that they are giving me money and not getting results—I am sorry. There has been some turmoil in my life. But I will have a new Gray Mirror (the book!) chapter out soon…
