What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan and cancel culture? Or are such topics beneath you? I would like to understand how these cancelation pushes come about---they don't feel organic.

It seems like it's been covered here before in various forms, just substitute "cancel culture" for "the press".

"And obviously, the press is who cancels you. Cancel culture is press culture. Good luck getting good press for your effort to cancel the press. Good luck asking the courts to protect people from the press. Doesn’t anyone here know how this country works?" - https://graymirror.substack.com/p/persuasion-and-the-mensheviks

"So it’s not just that everyone—at least, everyone cool—is on the same page. It’s more like: everyone is reading the same book—at the same speed. No wonder all the peasants are seeing conspiracies in their motherfucking soup. If you saw a group of bright red dots move across the evening sky this way, what would you think they were? Pigeons? Remote-controlled pigeons, illuminated by lasers? Sometimes even Occam is baffled." - https://graymirror.substack.com/p/a-brief-explanation-of-the-cathedral

I'd be more interested to hear CY's opinion on Nassim Taleb, as he's one of the only other public intellectuals whose opinion I regularly seek out.

NNT has gone in hard against JR in recent times, but I often find myself thinking he begs the question. NNT's premise seems to presuppose that the Cathedral, or some part of it, gets to define what constitutes misinformation or disinformation. Thinking covid was a big deal, reflecting on covid's origins or stating that masks might be effective were all officially mis- or disinformation at one time or other!

Given how much NNT excoriates Cathedralites in his books, it'd be interesting to hear his opinion on CY too
